What does Speedwell Lake, Washington Valley, Lewis Park and Jockey Hollow have in common?  Just minutes from Morris Plains, located off Speedwell Ave in Morristown, you will discover a portion of Patriots Trail. You can easily get immersed in Morristown history simply by walking this 8 mile hike along some of the most historic paths in the Northeast.  The link below from Backpacker provides all the information needed. Just remember to pack some water and a snack for the kids, feel free to bring the dog and get back to nature even for a few hours!

If you are traveling from the city, Morris Plains offers access by train. From there, you might consider a cab ride to Morristown, specifically Speedwell Park, to start your adventure.  After you have hiked the trail encompassing Morris Township and Morristown, stop off to celebrate and enjoy some great food.  The Morristown downtown square has a variety of restaurants that range in price - something for everyone as they say.

Don't forget to bring the camera and happy trails!
