The most populous town in Morris County, Parsippany, is home to more than 50,000 people. In addition to its large, cultural diverse community, this suburban town encompasses 25 square miles, making it an ideal location for corporate parks such as the Prudential Business Campus, Morris Corporate Center, and Fox Hill Industrial Park. A huge number of professionals, both from within township and from the surrounding areas, commute to Parsippany.

Known officially as the township of Parsippany-Troy Hills, this area also contains 31 municipal parks. Its biggest park, Knoll Park, stretches across 352 acres. According to the township’s Department of Parks & Forestry, the park system has successfully preserved and maintained more than 800 acres. This means there is more at least one acre of preserved land for every 100 residents in Parsippany.

The township also owns The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms, a 30-acre log home and National Historic Landmark. Architect and philosopher Gustav Stickley designed and built this home as a utopian symbol of American homesteading.

Unlike some of the smaller townships in Morris County, Parsippany does not have a concentrated downtown or city center. Rather, it has pockets of restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping centers in each neighborhood. Therefore, it’s important to have a car to get around and enjoy this expansive township as well as to commute into New York City.

Manhattan-bound commuters tend to drive into the city, either on I-80 to access uptown or I-280 to access downtown. The commute is approximately 40 minutes. It is also possible to take a NJ Transit bus to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, which takes closer to an hour.

Of New Jersey’s 611 school districts, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township School District is ranked 108th. The estimated median household, according to City Data’s 2013 statistics, is $100,176, compared to New Jersey’s average of $70,165. The estimated median house or condo value is $414,000, compared to New Jersey’s average median house value of $307,700.
